Women Tears Organization (WTO) is a local, women-led organization dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls in South Sudan. Founded on June 17th, 2017, and registered under the Central Equatoria State Ministry of Education, Gender, and Social Welfare, WTO adheres to the NGO Act of 2016 and the Republic of South Sudan Transitional Constitution. We strive to foster a community where women and girls can thrive and enjoy equal opportunities in all aspects of life.

Women Tears advocates for political empowerment by encouraging women’s participation in decision-making processes at all levels, promoting awareness about women’s rights, and advocating for policies that protect these rights.

Water and Sanitation

This program improves access to clean water and proper sanitation facilities for women and girls, focusing on sustainable infrastructure and hygiene education to enhance health outcomes.

Gender-Based Violence

The initiative addresses prevention and response to gender-based violence through awareness campaigns, legal support, and counseling services for survivors.

Child Sexual Abuse

This program works to prevent child sexual abuse by raising awareness, providing training for caregivers, and creating safe environments for children to report incidents.

Climate Change

The climate change initiative promotes sustainable practices, supports women's participation in climate action, and advocates for policies addressing the disproportionate impact of climate change on women and girls.

Women and Girls Sport

This program encourages participation in sports among women and girls, providing access to sports facilities, coaching, and mentorship while promoting physical health, self-esteem, and leadership skills.

Target Populations

Membership

Membership of WTO shall be open to all willing women of the community above the age of 18 who can effectively contribute to the fulfillment of WTO objectives. Membership shall be granted to women of sound mind and creativeness, accepted previous and present conducts, full abidance with the constitution of WTO, full acceptance and response to the monthly subscription fee, has not been convicted of criminal offence, have qualification and experience in matters related to volunteerism, and seconded by at least two members of the executive committee. Membership shall comprise of the following:

Active Membership

Shall include any women above 18 years who fully comply with subscription requirements, who shall also enjoy the rights of membership, attend meetings, the right to vote and to be voted for, and the right to participate in all the activities of WTO.

Honorary Membership

Any individual enjoying by virtue of her membership, an outstanding reputation, or whoever has made a distinguished contribution to the rise of WTO.
